The French Loaf

The French Loaf

₹ Budget

A proper French bakery on Suffren Street. Fresh bread baked daily, croissants, almond croissants, savory tarts, and coffee. One of the best budget stops in the White Town.

The French Loaf is on Suffren Street, one of the most photographed streets in the White Town, and it earns its place there. The smell of the baking reaches the pavement before you see the shop.

The bread and pastry range is genuinely good: fresh loaves, croissants, almond croissants, doughnuts, savory tarts, and a short coffee menu. It opens early and runs until late, which makes it useful at both ends of the day. Prices are low by any measure: this is one of the few places in the French Quarter where you can eat well for very little.

The croissant, almond or plain, is the thing to get.

Must Order

  • Almond croissant
  • Fresh sourdough loaf
  • Savory tart

Tip: Bread sells out by mid-morning. Come early if you want the full range.

Hours: Open daily from early morning to late evening
